Results from Super Tuesday

By: Jamie Puccetti

Hillary Clinton proved yesterday that she is a force not to be reckoned with. With strong support from Latino women and elderly people, Hillary captured California along with Arizona, Arkansas, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.

Barack Obama took home Alabama, Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, North Dakota, and Utah. The results of New Mexico are still out but Obama is in the lead by 1%.

On the Republican side, John McCain dominated in the polls. He won Arizona, California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, and Oklahoma leaving Mitt Romney to win in Alaska, Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, and Utah.

Mike Huckabee did far better than expected and surprisingly won Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

The next major contests include Maryland and Virginia, and then Ohio, Texas and Pennsylvania, followed by what could be a slow and grueling crawl to the convention.
